How many 2008 TCEA Conference proposals were rejected due to submission after the deadline date? If there were any, how many late submissions were accepted after the deadline date? In the case of the last question, what criteria was used to determine acceptance? Would it be possible to get all information about the rejected proposals (that met criteria but simply could not be facilitated due to room availability, lab availability, time constraints, etc..)? Seems a shame to reject a submission because of availability of labs, rooms, etc.. especially considering that technology exist to facilitate those not selected for at-Conference sessions. What I'd like to propose ... a, for lack of a better description, "Worthy but Impossible - Online Conference" or a "WORbI" [pronounced "wor"-be"] for short)! Note: if anyone can come up with a better "catch phrase" please share! What if (as a "pilot") the presenters of rejected sessions (that met criteria of a member selection committee) were offered another avenue via an online course management system? Criteria for participation in such a course would still be TCEA membership but the fee for the session itself, less than if it were F-2-F. The course(s) would be available ONLY during a certain time frame (which could be before, during, or after the Conference). None of the sessions are free. Fee is charged (at least enough to cover administrative overhead for registration, etc. and a calculation of the actual cost of placing in and serving out from a course management system. Do we have any SOS members whose submissions were rejected (for one reason or another)? IF so, please leave a comment stating so AND express your interest in pursuing the above "WORbI". |
